Officers from the Town of Poughkeepsie responded to Main Street near the North Grand Avenue intersection early on Friday, June 7, where there was a report of a man sleeping behind the wheel of his vehicle.
Upon arrival, police said that officers found Poughkeepsie resident Rondell Barksdale, 26, asleep behind the wheel. Further investigation determined that Barksdale had 17 suspensions on his driver’s license, and was in possession of more than three grams of cocaine, multiple cell phones, a scale, marijuana, and individual packing material.
Barksdale was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both felonies, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Barksdale was arraigned in the Town of Poughkeepsie Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. Barksdale is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, June 12.
